I want to share my little adventure from this morning when my alarm went off at 5 a.m. for my usual run.
I was cozy in bed, with my baby and husband peacefully snoozing beside me. The allure of hitting that snooze button was oh-so-tempting. But hey, who said achieving those fitness goals was going to be a walk in the park?
As the thoughts of excuses swirled in my mind—thoughts such as “I’ll run later” and “It won’t hurt to skip a day”—I had a moment of clarity. I reminded myself of my ultimate goal—to feel and look great in my clothes again, to be that hot mom who defies the notion that having kids means compromising on style and self-confidence. The vision of a more vibrant and energetic version of myself spurred me into action.
With a determined spirit, I mustered the strength to peel myself away from the comfort of my bed and embrace the challenge that awaited me. I made a mental note that Saturday is rest day, which meant I could savour the sweet bliss of sleeping in then. But for now, it was time to put on my workout gear, lace up my sneakers, and head to the gym.
The cozy spot I left behind

As I walked into the gym, I couldn’t help but nod in acknowledgment to my fellow gym goers who I often see hustling and grinding during these early hours. There’s something empowering about being surrounded by like-minded individuals who understand the dedication and commitment it takes to prioritize our well-being.
Sure, there are moments when I questioned my decision. The warmth of my bed and the allure of a few extra hours of sleep whispered sweetly in my ear. But I brushed off those tempting voices and reminded myself of the satisfaction and accomplishment that awaited me on the other side of this morning battle.
And you know what? I’m so glad I made that choice. As I pushed through my workout, I could feel my energy levels rise and the sleepiness fade away. Each rep, each stride, brought me closer to my fitness aspirations and reminded me of the strength and resilience I possess.
So, my friends, the next time you find yourself in a similar struggle between the allure of sleep and the pursuit of your goals, remember this: It’s okay to enjoy some well-deserved rest, but the real magic happens when we push through the resistance and show up for ourselves.
I can’t help but feel a sense of happiness and accomplishment. I went against the grain, fought off the temptation to snooze, and honored my commitment to my well-being. And you know what? I’m proud of myself. Every step, every workout, brings me closer to becoming the best version of myself—one who exudes confidence, strength, and resilience.
So, for those of you who are on the same path, keep pushing forward, keep embracing those morning battles, and never forget the incredible things you can achieve when you silence those excuses and rise to the occasion.
